We haven’t heard much from singer Jewel lately. Or maybe she’s just been in disguise. The full-time folk singer and part-time yodeler went undercover at a Los Angeles karaoke bar to sing some of her best-known songs to a confused and delighted audience.

With a crew in tow from Funny Or Die, the singer played the part of a mild-mannered business woman named “Karen,” who had to be egged on to take the stage and sing. Many of Karen’s “friends” were actually actors from the comedic website. Sporting a fake nose, a boring business suit, and a dark wig, the singer acted shy, took the stage, and then promptly rocked the bar with her signature tunes.

Watching the clips, you can see the audience begin to realize that something is definitely up. Unsuspecting gawkers comment that “she sounds like Jewel,” but few, if any, realize that the singer sounds like Jewel for a reason. She is Jewel.

Jewel’s ‘No Good in Goodbye’ Music Video Arrives

“No Good in Goodbye” music video from Jewel Kilcher has been unveiled. It does not only allow fans to get a closer look at the making of the song but also provides them with a glimpse of the country music singer’s life back home with her husband Ty Murray.

A self-penned song, “No Good in Goodbye” is taken from Jewel’s ninth studio album “Sweet and Wild”. This is the third track in the album which got music video treatment following “Stay Here Forever” and “Satisfied”.

“The theme of this album is finding what’s true about you and your life, and defending it and valuing it above all else,” said Jewel. “My newest country album will share so many of my personal feelings of love and happiness that I have written into the songs.”

Two years ago, Jewel released her first country album, Perfectly Clear, which made her an unintended part of a trend.

Her shift from pop singer-songwriter to country came at the same time that Darius Rucker and Jessica Simpson both attempted that move. Darius went gonzo with four hits from his album Learn To Live, which went platinum and led him to the Country Music Association’s New Artist of the Year award. Jessica never quite connected and moved along to other parts of the entertainment business.

“It was odd timing,” Jewel told The St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “Everybody was doing it at the same time.”

Jewel fared well enough. She got a pair of Top 20 country singles out of Perfectly Clear and took off on a lengthy tour with Brad Paisley. If anyone doubts her sincerity, she’s back with a second country album, Sweet And Wild, which gets released on Tuesday. And she understands that she needs to continue working on the relationship with fans to make sure they know she’s for real.

Singer/songwriter Jewel will sing the national anthem before the start of the 94th Indianapolis 500.

Word that Jewel will perform before the May 30 race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway comes three weeks after track officials said they hoped to bring iconic actor Jack Nicholson to wave the green flag this year.

Nicholson isn’t a sure thing yet, but officials are working to finalize his travel details, said Jeff Belskus, president and chief executive officer of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corp.

Jewel’s connection to this year’s 500 comes through Professional Bull Riders, Inc., and her bull-riding husband, Ty Murray.

Randy Bernard, the new CEO of the Izod IndyCar Series and former PBR leader, got Murray’s help in turning the once-struggling professional rodeo series into the world-wide show it is now.

Murray, a PBR investor, is expected to attend the 500, too, along with some other celebrities connected to Bernard and Izod, which became the title sponsor of Indy-car racing last year.
